Historic Victory: Chester Becomes First City in South Carolina to Pass Workers’ Rights Resolution
Chester, SC — On a day dedicated to honoring those who lost their lives on the job, the City of Chester made history. In a unanimous vote on Workers Memorial Day, the Chester City Council passed a landmark Workers’ Rights Resolution, becoming the first city in South Carolina to formally and publicly stand in defense of workers’ dignity, safety, and voice. By equipping union members to run for office and teaching them and their allies how to organize and mobilize communities. We aim to train the next generation of Community Organizers and progressive candidates who champion workers’ rights, articulate a new vision for our communities, and foster change where it matters most.

At the forefront is Brandon Upson—an eighth-generation South Carolinian, Army veteran, and fearless advocate—whose leadership reflects a deep commitment to justice, equity, and community.
